Limestone quarry that was active between 1907-1957. Lime usually occurs as limestone, but here it was in gravel form. The intention was to produce agricultural lime and lime-sand bricks.
The quarry has been full of water once before in connection with a torrential downpour when the Örebäcken stream outside broke a new furrow and filled the quarry. Another furrow was dug through the forest to Stensån and after pumping out the water, work in the quarry resumed. When excavating the limestone layer, a large vertebra was found that came from the Plesionsarians, the swan lizards, who lived in the sea during the Cretaceous period.
It is very difficult to dive here because there are a lot of trees and branches at the edges. And it doesn’t get any better than the fact that there is about 5cm of visibility. If it hasn’t rained for a long time, it might get better. Nothing to complain about.
