During the night between 9 and 10 April, Hansal was in a northbound convoy in the Kattegat together with T13, T16 and T17 as escorts. The ship was carrying anti-submarine warfare at the time. On the morning of 10 April, the convoy was attacked by British Halifax bombers from the 58th and 502nd. The attack lasted until 0245 and 20 people died in the attack. Hansa 1 and T-13 sank at 0304. T16 was badly damaged but managed to get to Fredrikshamn where the ship was later destroyed in another British air raid.
