The lightship No. 16 Fladen was built in 1888 and was originally named Kopparsternerne when it was placed at the foundation of the same name. In 1900 the ship was rebuilt and then paved at Fladen.

At nine o’clock in the evening on January 6, 1924, a violent fire broke out on board and the lightship No. 16 Fladen was completely destroyed. Fortunately, no one died in the accident, but a few days later the ship sank.

The wreck lies on a hard bottom with some larger rocks around it.
